Laser Mole Removal

Moles are small marks that can appear anywhere on your skin. Usually brown in colour, they can be found alone or in groups. It is possible, however, for moles to be dark blue, black, or a pinkish flesh colour. In addition, they can be flat, raised, or round and come in a variety of colours.

Moles are common. In fact, everyone has at least a few somewhere on his or her body. In fact, researchers believe that the moles you will have are determined before you are ever born. During the first 20 years of your life, these moles begin to appear. Changes in hormone levels from life events such as puberty and pregnancy can cause the appearance of moles to change by becoming larger or darker.

Sometimes regarded to be fashionable and even called "beauty marks" when found on women’s cheeks; however, not all moles are beautiful. They can be very unsightly when they protrude from the skin. They may contain dark hair and they may be dangerous.

      How does mole removal work?

Before you decide to go ahead, Skin and Laser Clinic will offer you a thorough one-to-one medical consultation with a doctor who specialises in mole removal procedures. Treating moles after they have been properly analysed is a simple and quick procedure. The laser energy is entirely converted into rapid vaporization of tissue water which results immediately in the ablation of tissue. The surface of the skin tissue which is diseased or otherwise damaged can be removed in ultra-thin layers with practically no effect on the surrounding tissue. The new skin layers that form are smooth and regular. The therapy itself is simple, fast and accurate. The treatment is painless or it may cause some light discomfort. The Er. YAG Laser causes a superficial wound to the skin that takes 7-10 days to heal. However, if the mole is hairy, the Erbium:YAG laser will not remove the hairs and these may have to be dealt with later using our hair removal Laser. Consultation, imaging of the mole and surgical removal can all be done during one visit, in less than one hour.

      After mole removal treatment

Postoperative care is minimal. Your doctor may ask you to use an anti-bacterial ointment for a short period of time (3-5 days). The treated area will be sensitive to the sun for some months and you should use a sunscreen of SPF 30 for about 6 months.

Will I have a scar after the mole removal?

All mole removal procedures will leave a small mark or scar which is normally far less noticeable than the original mole. Most scars that do appear slowly fade over time.

We use the latest laser technology to ensure any scarring is minimal.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: A Mole Scan and diagnosis together with a Doctor’s consultation is required in all cases before starting the Laser Mole Removal Treatment.
